HubSpot Overhauls CRM With AI Agents and Self-Updating Data
HubSpot is overhauling the foundation of its customer relationship management platform with a new set of AI-powered tools designed to automate more marketing, sales and customer management work while keeping those actions tied to continuously updated business data.
The company unveiled the changes as part of its Fall ’26 Spotlight, describing the release as one of its most significant product updates in years. At the center of the announcement are a redesigned Breeze Assistant, a self-updating Smart CRM and a new system HubSpot calls Growth Context, which combines information about a company, its employees and its customers to give AI tools more relevant information when completing tasks.
For small businesses, the broader idea could be particularly significant. Many smaller companies do not have dedicated teams for every marketing, sales and customer service function. HubSpot is positioning its new system as a way for those businesses to automate administrative work and use specialized AI agents without requiring employees to constantly switch between separate AI tools.
Key Changes Coming to HubSpot
The redesigned Breeze Assistant moves beyond answering questions and generating text. Businesses can describe what they want accomplished, and the assistant can assign specialized AI agents to complete parts of the job.
Those tasks can include creating campaign plans, generating content, preparing reports, prospecting for potential customers and drafting personalized sales outreach.
HubSpot says the underlying CRM provides the context those agents need to complete their work. Its new Smart CRM can automatically capture and synchronize information from calls, emails and meetings rather than relying entirely on employees to manually update customer records.
A new Context Home provides businesses with a score showing how complete that information is and identifies areas where additional context may be needed.
“We hear from customers every day that they don’t want to think about which AI tools to use, they just want outcomes,” said Duncan Lennox, Chief Product and Technology Officer, HubSpot. “So we reimagined HubSpot to be a platform that delivers those outcomes, and everything we unveiled today shows how AI can actually deliver real ROI when it understands your business.”
HubSpot says businesses using its platform create nearly 3.6 times more marketing qualified leads, win 3.2 times more deals and close more than twice as many support tickets. Those figures are company-reported results rather than guarantees, so small businesses evaluating the platform will need to determine how closely their own operations match the customers behind those measurements.
AI Takes a Larger Role in Marketing
HubSpot is also introducing Marketing Studio, which combines marketing performance information with AI-powered recommendations and execution tools.
The system can identify issues such as an underperforming campaign segment, leads that have not received follow-up or a company’s visibility within answer engines. A marketer can then ask Breeze Assistant to address the issue, with specialized content and campaign agents helping plan campaigns, generate material and personalize nurture sequences.
HubSpot says early Marketing Studio customers created 81% more campaigns on average, while customers using Breeze Assistant generated 2.2 times more leads.
The ability to move directly from identifying a marketing problem to creating a campaign could help small businesses that have limited marketing staff. However, producing more campaigns does not necessarily mean producing more effective campaigns. Owners and marketing managers will still need to monitor messaging, brand consistency, customer response and actual revenue generated from the additional activity.
The company is also expanding the advertising channels businesses can manage through HubSpot.
HubSpot says it has become the first CRM to integrate with ChatGPT Ads. The integration is designed to let businesses reach potential customers while they are researching products or making decisions inside ChatGPT. Leads generated through those ads can be added to HubSpot’s CRM, enrolled in follow-up workflows and measured alongside other marketing channels.
Microsoft Advertising is also being integrated into HubSpot. Businesses will be able to analyze advertising performance across Microsoft properties including Bing, Copilot, MSN and Outlook, while connecting advertising activity with pipeline and revenue data stored in the CRM.
For smaller companies running campaigns across several platforms, consolidating performance information could reduce the amount of time spent moving between advertising dashboards. It may also make it easier to compare which channels are producing leads and revenue rather than focusing primarily on clicks or impressions.
Sales Automation Targets Administrative Work
HubSpot is extending the same approach to sales teams, where administrative tasks can consume time that small businesses would otherwise spend speaking with prospects and customers.
The updated Prospecting Agent can monitor more than 40 buying signals, identify potential buying groups and prepare personalized outreach. A salesperson can ask Breeze Assistant to handle prospecting activities instead of manually researching each potential account.
Once a meeting takes place, HubSpot’s new Mobile Notetaker can capture conversations whether the meeting happens on a call or in person. The company’s revamped Deal Progression feature can then use the transcript to identify updates, add information to the CRM, prepare follow-up messages and keep deal plans current, subject to user approval.
HubSpot says customers using its AI sales tools have reduced their time to close deals by nearly half.
For small businesses with only one or two people responsible for sales, the potential benefit goes beyond saving a few minutes entering notes. Automatically recording conversations and preparing follow-ups could reduce the likelihood that opportunities are forgotten when employees are balancing sales with other responsibilities.
Revenue Hub Automates the Quote Process
HubSpot is also introducing Revenue Hub, which is designed to automate parts of the process between a customer’s decision to buy and a signed agreement.
The system can automatically prepare quotes using information already associated with a deal. HubSpot highlighted Canadian software company Workleap as an example, saying the company used Revenue Hub to move from quote to signature in less than 15 minutes.
Automated quote generation could be useful for businesses that regularly prepare similar proposals or pricing documents. Companies with highly customized contracts, variable pricing structures or approval requirements may still need more human review before sending documents to customers.
Data Quality Becomes More Important as AI Does More
HubSpot’s strategy depends heavily on the quality and completeness of information inside its CRM. That creates both an opportunity and a consideration for smaller businesses.
Automatic synchronization of calls, emails and meetings could reduce one of the traditional problems with CRM systems: employees forgetting or failing to update records. At the same time, businesses will need to make sure the information feeding automated systems is accurate and that employees understand which actions AI agents can perform on their behalf.
The more responsibility companies give AI for customer communications, campaigns, prospecting and quotes, the more important oversight becomes. Small businesses may want to establish approval processes for customer-facing content and periodically review automated workflows rather than assuming every AI-generated action is appropriate.
The announcement also does not provide detailed pricing information for the new capabilities, which will be an important consideration for small businesses comparing potential productivity gains with additional software costs.
HubSpot’s larger bet is that businesses will increasingly prefer AI embedded directly into the systems where their customer and operational data already resides instead of adopting separate AI products for individual tasks. For small companies, that approach could reduce tool sprawl and administrative work, but the value will ultimately depend on whether the automation produces measurable improvements in leads, sales and customer service without creating additional complexity for the teams managing it.
